Prey Tomorrow Deck Description
Tomorrow deck is a Today deck that went into the future. It came back with some amazing new school features and refinements. Let's dig into it.
Prey designed a clean looking head tube with good material thickness where the welds are. It is slightly lower at 105mm, and has an engraved logo. The angle is 0.5 degrees steeper than the Today deck so you get better placing of tall bars. The neck has the same look as Today deck, but it is 3 millimeters wider to fit the wider deck, while also giving a larger diameter crook groove. The neck is also upgraded with an internal plate for added torsion stiffness. The deck has a lot of concave which they designed in a way to fit the stance of a scooter rider, rather flat section in the middle and increasing in stages to the sides. There are also grooves on the surface to add traction and give your feet better grip. They also made the deck 3mm lower (24mm instead of the “standard” 27mm) so you stand closer to the axles. These two features gives you a whole new feel and control.
Another new feature is super thick 6mm plates towards the wheel. This gives superior support against material stress, and it stiffens your wheel from sideways pressure. The top back corner of the deck is slightly rounded for less stress impacts. With the lower deck Prey also had to re-design the deck ends. Again same looks, but new features. These deck ends have a smaller diameter, and with that comes a nut with smaller outer diameter. We made the steel nut round so there is no weak spots on the deck ends due to thin material where the hex corners are on a standard nut. The nut is long so you will not strip them, ever. The axle is made of 12.9 cromo steel, the strongest alloy available. Also Prey wanted to make deck ends that do not need a special long allen key or other "creative" tools quite common in the scooter industry… So, in combination to balance the weight of the deck better, they made the deck ends of solid aluminum so that the axle and nut head is not too far in. It also gives them a longer life span of course. And to top it all off, they have anodized the deck instead of using regular powder coated paint. It's slick as butter. Enjoy.
